Taiwan Advanced Residency Program

(160 contact hours)

Tuition: $3,500.00

A one-month program directed by Marcus Brinkman, OMD

This is an opportunity for students who have successfully completed the 390 hour Acupuncture program* and/or the equivalent herbal program.  Transcripts from other schools will be reviewed for equivalency.  Students transferring credits from other schools may be required to take a test for competency, to be accepted for this residency program.

Students will be in a clinical setting in the Taipei area.  Students will examine patients and perform acupuncture and moxibustion and/or herbal prescriptive services (depending on the direction of their studies) under the guidance and supervision of a bilingual Oriental Medical Doctor (OMD).  The program is thirty (30) hours per week, including a morning conference with the instructor.  The student will be required to spend an additional ten hours weekly in independent studies, as directed by the OMD.  Visits to local hospitals and clinics will allow the student to observe TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) at its best, and to learn how it interfaces with allopathic or western medicine in China.

This course may be extended for one or two months at the request of the student with the instructor's recommendation.  Students will have ample time weekly to visit tourist attractions, observe local customs, and to enjoy the beautiful "Island of Formosa" and its friendly people.

Cost of $3500.00 includes all clinical supplies (needles, moxa, equipment).  Student should take the books required in Basic & Intermediate acupuncture, and will receive another workbook in Taiwan.  The student will be responsible for their own passport and to pay for transportation, meals, and lodging.  Lodgings is not expensive for basic accommodations, and the school can help to arrange a safe place for the student to stay.  Taiwan is relatively safe and friendly, with a crime rate lower than that in the United States.

*  (200 hours of Basic acupuncture, 90 hours of Intermediate, 100 hours of Internship)

Other Costs: Transportation to and from Taiwan, Accommodations and Food costs and

Insurance is the responsibility of the student.
