Make-up Work
If a student
has an excused absence on the day of a midterm or final examination, he or
she will be allowed to arrange for a make-up examination with the
instructor.
Any make-up examination must be taken within one week
after the originally scheduled exam day if possible. If a final exam is
missed because of an excused absence and the make-up exam is not taken
within one week, the student is awarded an “I” for an incomplete grade
(See section titled “Incompletes and Final Examinations”).
If a student is absent because of an extended illness
or other extenuating circumstances, a make-up exam will be taken at the
earliest possible time.
If a student fails to make a passing grade on either
mid-term or final exams, there will be no retakes permitted. If a student
fails a midterm exam, the student will meet with the instructor to
determine what type of remedial action is appropriate to increase the
student’s skills, and consequently, chances of improving the final exam
and course grade to a satisfactory level.
Physical and Learning
Resources
The Oklahoma Healing Arts Institute is located in a 2745 sq. ft. building in a busy
business district in Oklahoma City, OK. The school and clinic are located
all on a single floor. Handicapped individuals have access without
restrictions. There are 4 treatment rooms and 1 central classroom.
Each treatment room also has a variety of acupuncture
charts on the wall. The dedicated library floor space houses adequate
tables, chairs, desks, etc., to encourage student and faculty use of
library holdings, which consist of TCM, herbal, and western texts,
journals, and articles compiled from many sources.
Student Conduct Policy
Any
inappropriate behavior, if it continues beyond the 1st warning, is
considered adequate cause for dismissal. This includes, but is not limited
to, harassment (sexual or other), bullying, degrading or profane comments,
or any disruptive behavior.
Students are expected to not misuse their hands while treating patients or
each other in clinical settings, and to act as respectful medical
students. If students observe any inappropriate behavior among other
students or from instructors, they are expected to report such behavior to
the instructor or administrator, whichever is appropriate.
